NVHC has a longstanding tradition of supporting our neighbors through community service and charitable giving. We are making a special commitment now, in this time of great need for many, to help our friends at Cedar Ridge and Crescent. Although we are no longer able to open our doors for Friday prayers or to pack our usual weekend food bags for Forest Edge students, we recognize that many of our neighbors are experiencing greater than ordinary need during this time of pandemic.
NVHC Change has arranged for a storage pod to be placed in the NVHC parking lot to accept donations of food and diapers. The pod, provided free of charge from #RestonStrong, will be open for donations on the following days and times:
Thursday, May 28, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Thursday, June 4, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM |
Saturday, May 30, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Saturday, June 6, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM |
Monday, June 1, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Monday, June 8, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM |
Please bring non-perishable food items in plastic grocery bags. We ask that donors observe social distancing guidelines: wear masks and stay at least six feet away from other people. Some of the most needed nonperishable items are listed below.
- rice
- crushed tomatoes
- tomato paste
- oil
- milk (non-refrigerated milk boxes)
- all-purpose flour
- dried chick peas (not canned)
- fava beans
- peanut butter
- diapers
If you would like a volunteer from NVHC to come to your home for contact-free pickup of your donation, please contact the ShowClick Here to View Contact Information. We are also accepting donations for gift cards. Your donations will buy grocery gift cards from the Temple Brotherhood to be given to our friends in the Cedar Ridge and Crescent Communities for purchasing fresh food items. When making your donation, please select “Brotherhood” from the pull-down menu and put “Gift Card for Cedar Ridge” in the Payment Notes section of the giving form.
Thank you and stay healthy and safe!
