Our Mission
- Meet the needs of all members of our community in the most integrated environment, with appropriate support in place for those who need it;
- Provide access to a Jewish education and spiritual life for all members of our community;
- Ensure every member of our community is treated with dignity, respect and equality; and
- Promote a culture of inclusion throughout our community.
The world would be a wonderful place if we could guarantee that all people would feel welcome all the time. But we know that is not how things work. That is why we have an inclusion program, to make the work of including everyone a part of our deliberate decisions and actions. Some groups and individuals have historically been marginalized in American society and in the larger Jewish community. NVHC is committed to making sure that we surpass these failings. In particular our inclusion program focuses on individuals with Special Needs and their families. We take a very broad definition of “Special Needs” as we understand that we all have different strengths and weaknesses and we have to be flexible as an institution about how we respond.
